Our history is all around us. Beneath our feet, in the shape of the land and in the buildings that we walk past every day. Our job is to find it, where it is hidden or obscured, and to record and interpret our findings so that the knowledge is preserved and can contribute to bigger, wider studies.
If this is something that interests you, then you might want to join us.
Some of our members have a background in archaeology; occasionally we get students looking for practical experience before they begin a university course. Many come along equipped only with a genuine interest and a desire to learn about, explore and contribute to Tameside’s archaeological heritage.
Everyone is welcome.
If you are unsure and want to find out more before you commit then please contact us through our “Ask A Question” page which will send your inquiry to our chairman. We would probably invite you to come along to one of our meetings as a guest so that you can get a better feel for what we do.
We normally meet every third Thursday in the month at 4, Ralphs Lane, Dukinfield SK16 4UZ.
Unfortunately we have to ask members to pay a subscription charge of £20 as a family membership each year.
This covers the cost of insurance that we need to cover you, the public and the equipment needed.

or bring cash to the next meeting. You will receive a receipt.
